STATE TIMES NEWS
UDHAMPUR: The strike call given by oil tanker union all over the State has badly affected the normal life of commuters including bikers, car and commercial vehicle operators in Udhampur.
According to reports strike call was given by the oil tanker union in State because of assault on a tanker operator in Srinagar by unruly stone pelters leaving him critically injured and also damaging their tankers. Talking to “STATE TIMES” one of the victim, a tanker operator who was roughed up by unruly mob, on condition of anonymity said that he was severely beaten by unruly mob near Pompore on the highway in Anantnag District and had received multiple injuries.
He said he was forced to raise anti India slogans and pro Pakistan slogans and was threatened to face dire consequences if he refused to do so.
Due to strike, most of the bikers and vehicle operators were seen crowded at different petrol pumps. People alleged that petrol pump owners also hype the situation and created chaos by refusing fuel to vehicle owners. They further alleged that petrol pump owners deliberately created scarcity of fuel in Udhampur to sell the fuel at exorbitant rates. Local people urged the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur to take serious cognisance of the matter and direct the petrol pump owners not to refuse to fill fuel to vehicle owners.
