FSSAI orders recall of four protein supplements

New Delhi: Food safety watchdog FSSAI has ordered recall of four protein supplements — Mulmin Pro, Mulmin Syrup, Mulmin Plus Capsule and Mulmin Drops with immediate effect.

In separate orders for each product, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed Jagdale Industries “to stop the manufacturing or sale or distribution or import etc…of the product with immediate effect”.

The similarly worded orders addressed to the company, FSSAI has asked it to recall all the four supplements.

“You are further directed to recall all the existing products from the market under intimation to FSSAI as the authority does not recommend approval for the product,” FSSAI said last night.

The decision to recall all these products has been taken on the basis of recommendations made by the scientific panel for functional foods, nutraceuticals, dietic products and other similar products.

On June 5, FSSAI had ordered recall of all nine approved variants of Maggi instant noodles from the market, terming them “unsafe and hazardous” for human consumption.
