RAMBAN: An eye catching fruit show cum exhibition programme was on Saturday held at Maitra by Horticulture Department Ramban in which Farooq Shah Bukhari- DDC Ramban was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Planning Officer, ACR Ramban and HDO Ramban participated in the camp. A huge gathering of farmers, Panchs and Sarpanchs who came across from the nooks and corners of the district enthusiastically took part in the camp.
Colourful varieties of fruits ranging from apple, walnut, olive oil, apricort, peach, picanut, fruit jams, medicinal plants, honey, citrus, pear, lemon and orange brought by farmers of the district were displayed in this attractive fruit show. Speaking on the occasion CHO Ramban made farmers aware about the latest technological and biological methodologies available for disease free and better yield varieties of fruits.
DDC in his deliberations narrated that varietal development is a sign of a buoyant industry. The consumer demand for innovation and the major retailers looking to extend the season has given the expert nurseries a chance to encourage development of different varieties.
The show concluded with the distribution of prizes among the farmers for their keen interest in the field of fruit development.
