VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee, General Secretary, Manjit Singh on Monday accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of turning blind eyes towards Jammu and suffering of farmers in Kandi areas.
The senior Congress leader was speaking before the large number of party workers during a monthly meeting here at Vijaypur.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir, he said, both the ruling parties BJP and PDP have different ideologies despite that they have joined hands for the sake of power.
“BJP has compromised its own ideology of one flag, one Constitution which were the roots of the party. This party divided people in Jammu Division on communal lines and got votes in the Assembly elections securing 25 seats,” he said, adding that now when they have joined government as coalition of PDP, the saffron party has not worked for the people.
The situation in Jammu has not improved. Many developmental works which were taken up by the Congress during its rule in the State have been shunned like one prestigious artificial lake project on Jammu Tawi River, he alleged.
It was after BJP faced heat from the people, he said, they repeatedly giving statements to befool people that this project would not be abandoned.
He said that the AIIMS which was sanctioned for Jammu was taken by the PDP to Kashmir but ruling partner BJP remained mum over the issue.
In the name of premier health institution, he said, the State has been again put on the edge with divisive politics of the saffron party which the Congress Party will expose time to time.
Regarding farmers, he said, the worst suffering was the farmers whose crops were damaged in heavy rains yet they were not given any compensation.
During the meeting, the participants highlighted their grievances, while Manjit Singh stressed them to strengthen party’s agenda besides spreading awareness among the people regarding the anti-people policies of the BJP in State as well as in Central Government.
Manjit Singh said that in one year of its regime in Centre, the BJP has hiked the prices of all the essential commodities, and the service tax has also been increased forcing the common man to face suffering.
One rank and one pension, he said, UPA Government had kept money for the soldiers after a Cabinet decision but the Modi Government has again adopted negligence.
