SAMBA: A grand closing ceremony of volleyball championship was organized by Samba Police today under Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Community Hall Ground Ramgarh where SSP Samba Benam Tosh, accompanied by Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary, Deputy SP DAR Ajay Anand, SDPO Bari Brahmana Rahul Nagar, SDPO Vijaypur Rohit Kumar and SHO Police Station Ramgarh Sudesh Kumar, honoured players with cash rewards amounting to Rs 50000, certificates and trophies in the presence of PRIs and hundreds of prominent citizens of the area.
Among the prominent persons, who spoke on the occasion and thanked the J&K Police for organizing sports event, were DDC Member Sarbjeet Singh, Vice Chairperson Municipal Committee Ramgarh Kamlesh Kumari and social activist Shiv Choudhary.
In the tournament, total 08 volleyball teams viz Jai Baba Chambliyal Club Dug, Khour Slarian Club, Ramgarh Club, Rajneesh Club Sarwa, Radha Krishan Club Gho Brahmana, Barjani Club, Friends Club Ramgarh and Swankha Club participated.
The volleyball tournament has been played on knock out basis.
The final match of volleyball championship was played between Jai Baba Chambliyal Club Dug and Friends Club Ramgarh in which team Friends Club Ramgarh under the captainship of Neeraj Kumar emerged as overall winner whereas team Jai Baba Chambliyal Club Dug under the captainship of Sunny Kumar stood as runner up in the tournament.
SSP Samba Benam Tosh said that J&K Police is going to organize more such sports and other awareness programmes in border areas of Ramgarh and Samba sector and that Dangals and cultural programmes shall also be organized very shortly in which local wrestlers and local artists shall be encouraged, felicitated and promoted.
SSP Samba further said that samba district is no more safe haven for the heroin smugglers and suppliers and nor a safe market for illicit narco trade.
SSP Samba and other dignitaries planted trees, paid homage to the martyrs and took ‘Panch Pran’ pledge organized by Municipal Committee Ramgarh on the occasion.
