Fresh snowfall in Chenab Valley;Batote-Doda-Kishtwar NH reopened

BHADARWAH: People of Chenab Valley especially Bhadarwah, Doda, Gandoh and Kishtwar on Tuesday morning were surprised again to witness heavy snowfall and it’s overnight accumulation.
After fresh overnight snowfall which continued till 11:00 AM at Bhadarwah, Gandoh, Kishtwar and Doda, authorities also suspended vehicular traffic on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway in the morning as precautionary measure.
According reports, 350 light motor vehicles were allowed to move yesterday evening on NH1B from several places of Doda and Kishtwar Districts but after fresh snowfall authorities were forced to stop the vehicular movement again in the morning.
However after improvement in the weather, all kind of stranded vehicles were allowed to move again towards Jammu.
About 600 heavy and light vehicles from Doda and Kishtwar Districts have crossed Batote when last report came in.
People of Chenab Valley have started feeling the heat due to the suspension of traffic on national highway as essential commodities including kerosene oil, vegetables, wheat floor and medicines have started disappearing from the market rapidly beside maximum of petrol pumps have started going dry making people uncomfortable and apprehensive.
