Fresh landslide shuts Batote-Doda-Kishtwar Highway

BHADARWAH: Kishtwar bound passengers remained stranded since morning after the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway (NH1B) got again blocked due to heavy fresh landslides and boulders at Kulgardi area of Drabshalla in District Kishtwar on Wednesday early morning.
According to reports, hundreds of commuters and passengers remained stranded on 110-km Batote-Doda-Kishtwar Highway which got closed on Wednesday morning at about 7:00 AM after heavy landslides hit Kulgardi area of Drabshalla in District Kishtwar.
After getting information, concerned authorities reached the spot with men and machinery and started work to restore the vehicular movement on the road which is the main connectivity to Distt Kishtwar.
The vehicles on both the sides are stranded and work was in progress to restore movement of the vehicles on the National Highway.
“Batote-Doda-Kishtwar NH1B got closed today early morning at 7:00 AM after heavy landslides and boulders again hit the Kuligard area near Drabshala. The restoration work is going on to restore the vehicular traffic at the earliest but as of now, continuous falling of shooting stones is hampering the restoration work, ” said DySP Traffic NH1B Aftab Bukhari.
It is important to mention here that Batote-Doda-Kishtwar NH1B was restored on 22nd of this month after remaining closed for five days when 100 meters of road was eroded at same place.
