JAMMU: Amid high drama, the former Superintendent of Police Sewak Singh, evading arrest after the confirmation of life imprisonment sentence by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court surrendered before the 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu M.K Sharma, minutes before the court was about to close.
The former SP, whom the police could not locate and arrest despite issuance of non-bailable warrants finally surrendered just hours after the 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu issued a notice against his bail surety, Advocate Amrik Singh Sudan.
Taking cognizance of his surrender, the Judge sent the former S.P. to Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
Pertinent to mention here that the former Superintendent of Police was convicted by the Sessions Court for the murder of one PSI Ajay Gupta at Surankote.
The 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu had issued warrants for the arrest of the former S.P. initially on 29th October, 2014 directing the SSP, Jammu to produce him on 3rd November, 2014. Unable to trace the former SP by the police, the Sessions Judge, Jammu again issued a non-bailable warrant directing the police to produce him on 10th November, 2014. After police failed yet again to locate the former SP, the Judge finally issued a notice against Advocate Amrik Singh Sudan, who had stood as bail surety of the former SP.
