It is no exaggeration to say that a generation of Indians has grown up eating the food product in question. We just wonder now how long the adulteration has gone on, in turn raising questions about India’s food safety regime. The revelations show that companies cannot be trusted with a self-regulatory system. The onus is now on the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to strengthen its regulatory oversight mechanisms.
