Out of focus ‘third-eye’ in Jammu bothering security forces

AARYAN SHARMA
JAMMU: The third eye, installed across important city landmarks to maintain a strict vigil on the movement of the suspected people is out of focus and is in need of immediate repairs and maintenance.
According to official sources, “a large number of CCTV cameras installed at main city junctions and at railway and bus stations are out of order and not functioning properly”.
In some cases, in the absence of annual maintenance, these CCTV cameras are operational but not serving the purpose.
Some of them beam out of focus images and it is very difficult to scan the footage and identify the individuals.
Senior officers, supervising the functioning of the control room revealed, “it has been seen on many occasions CCTV cameras stop beaming pictures due to faulty connections and sometimes ever after carrying out regular repair work they have not stopped beaming ‘out of focus’ pictures of the spot.
Some of these CCTVs are installed at Railway Station as well while CCTVs installed across important city landmarks are out of order for variety of reasons.
Though the senior police officers have been apprised about the status of CCTV cameras yet repair work is pending. Recently, senior police officers had raised the issue of urgent need of repair work of CCTV cameras in run up to the Amarnath yatra.
The senior police officers have been directed by the top officers to submit a detailed status report to fix the problem ahead of beginning of the annual pilgrimage.
