SAMBA: The Employees State Insurance (ESI) Dispensary in Samba has not been made operational even after five years of its completion.
Sources said the project on 5 kanals land was started 7 years back in 2010 and was completed in 2012 by spending lakhs of rupees. It is strange that a completed building has been kept unused by the government for the last five years which is a sheer wastage of funds and on the other hand the deserving patients of the working class are made to suffer.
Gambir Singh Sambyal General Secretary Congress Labour Cell Jammu and Kashmir said the project was undertaken because it was expected to serve around 10,000 industry workers. It is unfortunate that the ESI dispensary has not been made operational, for last five years.
Naresh Sharma Vice President Congress Labour Cell Samba said that a patient in emergency can die enroute to Bari Brahmna while he could survive had he received treatment locally.
Various workers associations and Unions have warned the State Government and Industries Minister that if the ESIC Dispensary is not made functional in the coming days, they will come on road and block national highway against the authorities playing with the life of workers.
