Five killed in Uri road accident

BARAMULLA: Five persons, including a father-son duo, died on Thursday in a road accident in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An official said that a Maruti car in which four people were travelling fell into 200-ft gorge known as Haji Peer Nullah around 6 AM at Silkote in Uri.
“Five people have died in this unfortunate accident. We have launched an operation to retrieve the bodies,” said Jaffar Hussain, Tehsildar Uri.
The deceased include Silkote Sarpanch Ghulam Hassan and his son Imran Ahmad.
Others who died in the accident have been identified as Arif Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad and Mushtaq Awan.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief, Dr Nirmal Singh on Thursday expressed grief in Srinagar over the death of five persons in a tragic car accident at Uri, in Baramulla District.
The tragedy occurred when the ill-fated car fell into a 200-metre deep  gorge near Silkote, early morning.
In her condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed her heart-felt sympathies to the bereaved family members in their hour of grief and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. The Deputy Chief Minister while expressing solidarity with the bereaved families prayed for the peace to the departed souls.
