Fire breaks out in Srinagar school, no casualties

Srinagar: A fire broke out in a school building in the Rajbah area here on Thursday, but no one was injured in the incident, officials said.
The fire started on the second floor of the Muslim Public School in Kursoo Rajbagh around noon when classes were underway, they said. According to the officials, 10 fire ten brought the blaze under control with the assistance of police and CRPF personnel.
All students and staff were safely evacuated and no one was injured but the three-storey school building was partially damaged, they said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Education Sakeena Masood visited the school after the fire incident.
She inspected the affected areas, assessed the damage and spoke with school authorities and local officials about immediate needs and plans for recovery, a spokesperson said.
He said Masood emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting the school’s reconstruction efforts and asserted that efforts would be made so that students could resume classes at the earliest.
