Financial Commissioner Revenue holds review meeting

KATHUA: Financial Commissioner, Revenue Pramod Kumar Jain held meetings with revenue officers, Chowkidars and Lamberdars to review the progress and functioning of the department during his visit to Kathua today.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar, SDMs Billawar, Bani, Hirangar, Basohli, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Girdawar, Patwaris, Numberdars and Chowkidar s attended the meeting.
DC Kathua presented the district revenue profile and the status of new administrative units of the district. He also put forth the details of infrastructure required for smooth functioning of the revenue offices including new administrative units. He also projected issues related to the funds for the renovation of record rooms and vehicle and apprised the meeting that department is working overtime to free the Kahcharai land from encroachers.
The Financial Commissioner, called for infusing new life in the Revenue Department. He said the provision of awards for best performing Patwaris, Girdawars and Naib Tehsildars shall be made to improve their performance adding that schedule calendar for Patwaris and Giradawars shall be rolled out to ensure their availability for public at their respective Patwar Halqas. He called to expedite the disposal of Court cases, land acquisition and updation of revenue records with special emphasis on the conduct of upcoming Girdawari as per the standing orders. He also directed the revenue officers to conduct effective touring and maintain tour diaries.
Financial Commissioner also agreed to provide Rs 10 lakh each for two tehsil buildings and funds for completion of five Patwar Khanas in the district.
He said refresher courses will be undertaken for revenue officials mentioning the government is committed to safeguard the old and new revenue records. He exhorted upon the revenue officials/officers to take innovative steps like use of Information Technology to improve their working. He directed the officials to start a survey to see how much of State land has been occupied by encroachers and steps can be taken to retrieve the same.
Later Financial Commissioner also held meeting with Numberdars and Chowkidars and listened to their issues including the enhancement of honorarium and uniform allowance.
While responding to the issues taken up by the Chowkidars and Numberdars, Jain termed Numberdars and Chowkidars as ears and eyes of the Revenue Department. He assured that all genuine issues of the workforce of the Revenue Department will be taken up and addressed.
