Fifth Police Martyrs Memorial NZ T-20 from Jan 11

JAMMU: Fifth Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter Club T-20 Cricket Championship 2014-15 shall be conducted jointly by the J AND K Police and Shaheed Welfare Committee Kathua in district Kathua from 11th January onwards. This was stated by DIG Jammu, Shakeel A Beig in a press conference, here on Thursday.
He told reporters that the championship will be held in the memory of Shaheed Dy. SP Manjeet Singh and other brave hearts of J and K Police, who made supreme sacrifice by laying down their lives for the sake of nation.
The family members of the martyrs of J&K Police are special invitees on this occasion and will be honoured, he said adding that the inaugural match of the tournament shall be played on 11th January, 2015 and the closing ceremony shall be held on February, 2015.
The championship is playing on knock out basis in which a total of 28 teams from within and outside J&K State are participating, he said adding that wherein the winner shall receive a cash prize of Rupees 2.50 lakh and the runners-up team Rupees 1.50 lakh, along with trophies and mementoes. Man of the tournament will be awarded with an Alto K-10 car and best batsman, best bowler and man of the match (final) shall receive Rs 21.000 each with trophies.
National, International and Ranji Trophy players are taking part in this tournament, he said.
The funds for the championship are being provided by PHQ J&K under Civic Action Programme and the sponsor by Chenab Textile Mill, Brick Kiln Association, Satyam Cements and TMT Saria, Stone Crusher Association, Industrial Unit Association, Kohinoor Rubbers and Jackson Industries, he informed.
DIG Jammu was flanked by Pawan Parihar SSP Kathua, Rakesh Singh and Davinder Singh from Shaheed Welfare Committee Kathua.
