JAMMU: All J and K Chess Association is going to organise J and K Police FIDE Rating Chess Tournament (U-2000 rating) in collaboration with J and K Police at MA Stadium Jammu from 1st to 4th October 2014, informed Atul Kumar, President of the Association, here on Thursday.
Total cash prize money for the tournament is Rs. 3 lakh, he told reporters adding that opening will be held at venue on 1st October at 10:30 AM followed by 1st round.
He appealed to interested players to submit their entry form till 30th September, 2014 at Hotel Nek, Below Gummat Jammu. He asked players to bring their own chess board.
Vice Presidents, Baldev Raj and Rakesh Gupta and Coordinator and also Chief Organising Secretary of this event, Taranvir Singh Gujral were present on the occasion.
This is the great opportunity and platform for J and K State players as they will get chance to play with players of 15 different states of India and also to get a chance to achieve FIDE Rating, said Atul adding that association has set a self target of creating at least five international masters within 4-5 years.
Tournament will be played as per FIDE Laws of Chess under Swiss system in which total nine rounds will be played, he informed.
There are special prizes of Rs. 43,000 for players of J and K State in different categories besides special prizes for veterans and unrated players also, he added.
