SRINAGAR: The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs and senior National Conference (NC) leader, Abdul Rahim Rather cautioned the people about the conspiracies being hatched to usurp the rights of the people of the State, adding that NC is a vibrant public movement which alone can safeguard the interests of the State as per the urges and aspirations of its people.
Addressing a public gathering at Bandipora in Charar-i-Sharief Constituency, Rather said NC has a track record of supreme sacrifices for the cause of people and has never compromised on the interests of the State.
Rather stated NC has a clear vision about a prosperous and self reliant welfare State enshrined in the Naya Kashmir document conceived by the great leader, Sher-i-Kashmir, late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. He said that NC has always campaign the cause of people and has strived to protect the special position of the State, of which it was the architect and has always been in the forefront in the fight against the forces who tried to weaken it from time to time. He asserted that nobody will be allowed to tamper with the special position granted to the State under Article 370 of the Constitution of India. He said abrogation of Article 370 is constitutionally impossible adding that fiddling with it shall have dangerous consequences.
Rather asserted that Autonomy has remained the heart beat of the people of the State and NC will not rest till it is restored in its pristine form.
Rather appealed to the people to cast their vote in favour of NC candidates in the forthcoming Assembly Elections for a decisive mandate to ensure lasting peace, faster development and economic self reliance.
He said that the candidates fielded by NC are sincere with a track record of honesty and sacrifices whereas most of the opposition candidates are generally tainted and questionable.
