Fencer Vansh wins bronze in Junior National C’ship

MANIPUR: Continuing his excellent performance, young fencer of the J and K State, Vansh Mahajan won bronze medal for the State in 24th Junior National Fencing championship 2016-17 organised by Manipur Fencing Association under the auspices of Fencing Association of India at Khuman Lampak Indoor stadium, on Monday.
The opening ceremony of the championship was attended by Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya, President of Manipur Fencing Association Th Joykumar and Director JNIMS Dr L Deben as the dignitaries.
A total of 403 fencers (233 boys and 170 girls) will compete in the championship.
An ace fencer Vansh also took part in XIV Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh-2012 and also 57th National School Games 2011-12 organised by the School Games Federation of India held at Chandigarh.
Vansh took his second medal (Bronze) in 58th National School Games 2012-2013 held under the aegis of School Games Federation of India at Jalgaon in Maharashtra.
Following the footsteps of J and K State International players Rashid Ahmed and Ujwal Gupta, Vansh is undergoing regular practice under their guidance. His coach Shotu Lal is also helping him in the practice so that he can achieve his goal.
