SRINAGAR: Financial Commissioner Industries and Commerce, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai on Saturday visited SIDCO Industrial Complex , Rangreth to take stock of the present status and the functioning of newly created establishment temporary campus of National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
Among others Director Handicrafts, Joint Director Planning, Industries and Commerce, MD, SIDCO and other senior officers of SIDCO were present on the occasion.
The Financial Commissioner interacted with the trainees in the campus to know their feedback about courses they are undergoing. He also interacted with faculty members and discussed about the difficulties and improvements required in the campus. He stressed upon the need to start such diploma and certificate courses which could be beneficial for locals in future and also emphasized upon correlating these courses with programs like Udaan, SKEWPY, Himayat etc.
The Financial Commissioner said in order to publicize widely regarding the courses offered by NIFT a committee comprising a member of the faculty of NIFT, representatives from Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom has been constituted which has so far visited more than 4 colleges in the valley and made presentation in the college premises about the activities of the NIFT.
Earlier MD, SIDCO briefed the Financial Commissioner about the ongoing projects and the developmental works being undertaken under the upgradation Scheme of MSME.
Ganai gave on spot directions to concerned authorities to immediately take necessary steps to improve the infrastructure and assured the representatives of the Association that government is in the process of formulation of a policy to encourage the unit holders to produce the product which could have the market not only in the valley but even be exported.
