BHADARWAH: In a tragic incident, a man was killed while two of his family members received critical injuries, when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into River Chenab near Premnagar on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway in District Doda on Sunday evening. According to eyewitnesses, an WagonR car (JK17- 4987) which was on its way from Jammu to Kishtwar on reaching near Premnagar, 18 km from Doda, it skidded off the road and fell into river Chenab as driver lost control at the steep curve.
When contacted SDPO Bhadarwah, Birjesh Sharma said that after getting information, police immediately rushed to the spot and along with locals rescued the young couple and their minor son from the half submerged car and shifted them to District Hospital Doda, where doctors declared the driver as brought dead, while his critically injured wife and son are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Doda.
The deceased has been identified as an employee of Auqaaf Islamia Kishtwar, Arif Hussain Butt son of Ghulam Rasool Butt resident of Hidyal, Kishtwar.
The injured have been identified as Shazia Begum wife of Arif Hussain and her 2 years old son Hayim Rasool. Police has registered a case under section 337,279,304-A at Police Station Thathri.
