RAMBAN: A motivational tour for 20 farmers hailing from remote and far flung areas of district Ramban was flagged off from Army ‘s Delta Force Camp Dharmund on Saturday.
The tour is being organised by Rashtriya Rifles battalion, based at Dharmund, under OP Sadbhavna.
The tour will be visiting Jammu, Delhi and Hisar. They will also visit Birtech Farm and Protected Environment Farm besides interact with Union Minister SDE Dharmendra Pradhan and will attend lectures at various universities.
Farmers said that the Army’s Sadbhavana drive is an informal approach mechanism for the officers and soldiers to interact with and show genuine concern and interest in the welfare of the local population.
Sushil Kumar, officer from Agriculture Department appreciated the efforts of army personnel and said that ‘Sadbhavana’ mission was a useful tool in building a positive image of the Army. This is a good approach to rebuild the socio-economic life of the people.
He said that such educational and motivational tours not only helps providing exposure but also to learn about the cultural diversity of various regions, adding that the measure so adopted also helps to win over the alienated sections of the society, particularly in the conflict zones.
