Farmers delegation leaves for field visit

JAMMU: A delegation of 45 farmers from Jammu province were on Sunday flagged off on five days exposure visit outside the State namely Punjab, Haryana and Himachal by the J and K Advisory Board for Development of Kissans.
Daljit Singh Chib, (Minister of State), Vice Chairman of Kisan Board along with S. Charanjeet Singh Khalsa (MLC) flagged off the bus carrying the farmers from Kisan Board office Dr. Ambedkar Chowk, here where among others officers of Agriculture and allied sectors were also present.
The farmers representing different districts of Jammu Province who are associated particularly with vegetable cultivation were sent under (Information, Communication and Educa-tion) Programme and the aim of this scheme is to update the skill of farmers and to acquaint themselves with the latest innovations in Agriculture. This programme will help to increase production and productivity of the farmers and raise their economic standards. The farmers are visiting the centre of excellence for vegetables at Kartarpur Punjab wherein high-tech vegetable production has been introduced and is a new innovation in field of agriculture. Some board members are also participating in the exposure visit.
Among others many advisory board members were also present on the occasion including D.P Khajuria, Sat Paul, Rajinder Prasad, Dunda Singh, Rakesh Antha and Surinder Singh.
