FAI selects fencers Shreya, Ajay for BRICS Games

JAMMU: Promising fencers from J&K, Shreya Gupta and Ajay Kumar have been selected by the Fencing Association of India (FAI) for the BRICS Games at ‘no cost to the government’. The BRICS Games slated to be held at Kazan in Russia from June 17.
Both these international fencers, who belong to J&K, have been selected considering their performance in the last edition of the Senior National Fencing Championship and subsequent selection trials, conducted by Fencing Association of India (FAI).
Shreya has been an outstanding fencer throughout the year 2023-24. She won five individual gold medal in here event of Sabre in Senior Nationals, Junior Nationals and women ranking competitions.
Having roots in J&K, presently, Shreya and Ajay train at National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) Vijay Bharati Sanskrdham Gujarat and NCOE Patiala respectively.
Meanwhile, former international fencer, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary and a host of other individuals including Rachna Jamwal, Shotu Lal Sharma, Supriya Chouhan and Maninder Pal Singh joined the wish list to pray for the improved performance for these J&K fencers.
