Exposure visit of Women Food Security Groups conducted

JAMMU: A training programme of farmers of Jammu District and exposure visit of Women Food Security Groups (WFSG) of Chak Bana, Bishnah and Badyal Brahmana (R.S Pura) was conducted by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Jammu here on Thursday.
The visit was organised under National Mission on Agriculture Extension Technology (NMAET) at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), SKUAST-J, R.S Pura.
In the said training programme more than 100 farmers from different areas of Jammu District including women farmers of WFSGs participated.
District Agriculture Officer (Extension), Jammu, Arun Kumar Makhnotra stressed on the strengthening of the groups and instructed the staff of ATMA and Agriculture Department to educate the women farmers particularly the new techniques of mushroom cultivation throughout the year, management of apiaries, training regarding canning and food preservation so that the women groups are established and will set an example for other groups.
Dr. Vikas Tandon, Head KVK, R.S. Pura; Dy. Project Directors, B.B Sidha and Ravinder Kachroo; Dr. Rakesh of KVK, R.S Pura also spoke on the occasion.
Exposure to Mushroom unit and Vermi compost unit of the farmers was conducted by Dr. Poonam.
Among others who were present include Rajesh Gandotra, Program Coordinator, Ashwani Jojra, Dr. Meenakshi, Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, S.K Munshi, Baijinder Singh, Ashwani Kaw, Rekha Sharma and Devanshi Pandit.
