JAMMU: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri on Saturday appealed to the Chief Secretary, who is heading the Empowered Committee constituted by Governor N.N Vohra, to expedite the process of regularisation of 61,000 daily rated workers to submit their reports on this issue at the earliest.
While addressing a NMC meet at Gandhi Nagar, Shastri hoped that the committee will come with the final recommendations well before its stipulated time.
Shastri while pleading the cause of daily rated workers demanded that till the issue of regularisation is resolved, the daily rated workers should be paid, out of a regular wage head, for which specific provisions may be kept in the budget beginning with current financial year.
Shastri also stressed upon the administration to minimise the occupational hazards faced by daily rated workers who are exposed to danger without necessary safeguard protocols.
Several resolutions were adopted in the meet which include immediate clearing of file of regularisation of 180 daily rated workers working in Rural Development Department of Jammu region falling under SRO 64 which is still pending in the Office of Secretary Rural Development Department for the last 19 days, include Jammu and Srinagar in the list of smart cities, releasing of 6 per cent DA due from July last in favour of State Government employees and pensioners, enhancing wages of daily rated workers to rupee ten thousand per month, issue notification regarding implementation of Seventh Pay Commission, setting up off National Wage Commission, enhancing medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month and implementing CP Fund deduction scheme in all departments of the State Government.
Among others present on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Sunil Kochhar, Sat Paul, Bhopinder Singh, Mohan Lal, Madan Lal, Surinder Kumar, Darshan Bawa and Tilak Raj.
