Exit polls

If the exit polls to be believed Congress stand to lose a quantum of its stronghold positions in Assam, Kerala and West Bengal triggering another exodus of its party cadre and leadership. It would also cast shadows over the leaderships of Gandhis-Rahul and his mother Sonia-to steer the party out of the quagmire. For the first time BJP is looking forward to open its account in Kerala. And for that it has tied up with new party, formed by Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam, a powerful organisation of the numerically strong backward Ezhava community, which has emerged as the political alternative to both LDF and UDF in several constituencies dominated by the Hindu community. This has been Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream run which made him to rush to Kollam after the temple fire tragedy. The area is dominated by the Ezhava community, which is BJP’s potential vote bank. If the lotus is able to bloom in the land of Communists, it will be a setback for Tripura the only state ruled by Communists and gain for BJP as the poll outcome would change the number game in Rajya Sabha. BJP has not been comfortable in the Upper House. The outcome would also change canvass of the politics and the saffron party emerging as a pan-India one and not the one with north India identity. BJP’s coalition experiment primarily is to emerge as a pan-India single largest party, removing its arch rival Congress from the field by giving regional parties the much needed further push. Ultimately the end result is the BJP’s dominance and where it plays second fiddle like in Jammu and Kashmir, it does not mind going to any extent to keep the partner happy. On the other side another alliance has emerged with Congress joining with Left parties. If they are fighting against each other in some states in Assam they are united to fight BJP and its partners. Will it be exit for Cong on the national political arena?
