Excise team destroys 200 Kg Lahan; two held

JAMMU: Excise Department on Monday recovered 200 Kg of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor while conducting raids at Bishnah and R S Pura areas of Jammu District.
Under the supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K, T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshayam Singh, the Excise team led by ETO City Excise Range South, Rohit Sharma and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Dr Suraj Chander assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspector Parshant Mathur, conducted series of raids at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Kothey Bulandey, Dablehar, Kotlimian Fateh, Tarachak, Sheikhpura and Shibuchak to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. The excise team recovered 200 kg of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan. The team also arrested two persons Toshi Devi, wife of Joginder Kumar and Bina Devi, wife of Bittu Lal, from Tarachak and booked them under Section (48) of J and K Excise Act for possession of three bottles of illegal liquor. Later, the team destroyed the seized consignment of Lahan on the spot.
