KATHUA: To arrest the menace of illicit distillation Excise Department sleuths on Saturday conducted series of raids and destroyed 1,500 Kg Lahan and 15 bottles of illicit liquor prepared from Lahan in several villages falling in Kathua District.
According to report, a team of Excise Department under the command of ETO, Kathua Excise Range, Sandeep Gupta conducted raids in villages Saktachak, Keengdayal, Sitdayal, Maichak, Lower Saktachak and adjoining areas in Kathua District and destroyed 1,500 Kg Lahan and 15 bottles of illicit liquor prepared from Lahan, which is highly injurious to health. Similar raids have also been conducted in different areas of Jammu Division to arrest the menace. The entire operation was held under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, (Executive), Jammu, Shahid Saleem.
The Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour. Inspection teams have been activated and there shall be no laxity for those who violate the law.
