Excise sleuths destroy over 1200 Kg Lahan, arrest woman bootlegger

KATHUA: Excise Department on Friday conducted series of raids at various areas of Kathua District and Tehsils R S Pura and Bishnah and seized over 1200 Kg Lahan which was later destroyed on the spot.
According to reports, under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Excise Team Kathua under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and Excise and Taxation Officer, Eradication and Enforcement Wing Jammu Suresh Sharma raided Dhabwal, Upper Saktachak, Sujwan and Tanda areas of Kathua District and in the process more than 900 Kg of Lahan was seized which was later destroyed by the team on spot.
Meanwhile, the Excise Team under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, City Excise Range South Nayeem-ur-Rehman Mughal raided the Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Tarachak, Joian, Sheikhupura, Shibuchak, Rehal, Kreil, Manhasa and Kothey Bulandae areas of Tehsils R.S. Pura and Bishnah, and recovered about 300 Kg of Lahan and 5 bottles of illicit liquor from State land, which was also destroyed on the spot. During the course of raids one person namely Ayodhya Devi, wife of Late Bachan Lal resident of Joian was arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act.
