SRINAGAR: Under the directions of Excise Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive Kashmir, exhaustive raids were conducted on Thursday at Brick Kilns of Nowbug, Chadoora and Budgam led by Excise and Taxation Officer, Central Kashmir accompanied by Range Inspectors of all three Districts of Central Range and other field officials.
The raids were conducted after complaints of manufacturing of illicit liquor in the area.
During the raids, 70 litres of Lahan and 6 litres of illicit liquor were recovered in areas adjacent to the Brick kilns. The seized consignment was destroyed on spot, being hazardous in nature.
Brick kiln owners were warned to ask their labourers to desist from illicit extraction of hazardous liquor and the labourers were counselled about the hazardous use of illicit liquor.
