Excise Deptt recovers over 900 Kg Lahan

KATHUA: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation and illegal smuggling of liquor from other states, the J&K Excise Department has intensified raids, checking at various locations to check the offences being committed.
Under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T. Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Shahid Saleem, raids have been conducted in district Kathua to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. Raids were conducted in Tarat Sanji and Lower Sakta Chak areas and in the process more than nine hundred kilograms of Lahan has been recovered and destroyed.
The Excise sleuths under the command of ETO Kathua Sandeep Gupta carried the raids.
The J&K Excise Department has re-energized and activated the Eradication and Enforcement Wing Jammu to act as flying squad to take action, as provided under law, on any complaint regarding violation of Excise Law.
