Excise Deptt destroys 450 kg Lahan, recovers 15 bottles of illicit liquor, arrests two bottleggers

JAMMU: Excise Department on Friday arrested two persons and recovered 450 kg lahan and 15 bottles of illicit liquor while conducting raids.
Under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Mohammed Shahid Saleem, the Excise Team led by Ritesh Gupta, Inspector Excise under the command of Excise and Taxation Officers, City Excise Range South, Nayeem-ur-Rehman Mughal and Suresh Sharma Eradication Wing conducted a series of excise raids at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Dablehar, Tarachak, Haslachak, Devigarh and Nikowal of Tehsil R.S Pura and Bishnah.
During the course of raids two persons namely Darshan Lal on of Sardari Lal, resident of Kotli charkan and Bahadur Singh, son of Sain Dass, resident of Nikowal were arrested and booked under Section 48 of J and K Excise Act. A total of four bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession. Besides this, about 400 kgs of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the State land and destroyed on spot.
Meanwhile, Excise Team Samba led by Sushil Kumar Inspector Excise under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range Samba, Virender Singh Billawaria conducted raid at Ramgarh, Radhwa, Nandpur and adjoining areas of Vijaypur wherein 50 kg Lahan and six bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from state land and which were destroyed on spot.
