Excise Department destroys illicit poppy crop

BHADARWAH: Continuing its crackdown against the poppy cultivators in Distt Kishtwar, Excise Department and police conducted raids at various areas and destroyed the poppy cultivation.
According to reports, District Police Kishtwar and Excise Department in a joint operation conducted raids in various areas of Kishtwar District which includes Cherhar, Sangrambhata, Hullar Pochal and Bandrana and destroyed 7Km of illicit poppy cultivation which is being grown in these areas.
Excise Deptt led by Inspector Towsif Mustafa Wani under the supervision of ETO Gurdev Kumar, Excise Commissioner(EC) Tsering Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner(DEC) Shahid Saleem with the full support Distt Police Kishtwar under the guidence of SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir managed to conduct raids and destroy the illicit cultivation of poppy plants.
People of Kishtwar in general and in habitants of said areas in particular appreciated the efforts of the joint operation by both Departments.
