Exchange Road shoot-out: Culprit held with weapon

JAMMU: Police on Wednesday arrested the main culprit behind the Exchange Road shoot-out. He was absconding since the incident which took place on Monday last.
According to report, three persons on 13th March, 2017, attacked Inderjit Singh alias Honey, a shopkeeper, at Exchange Road, Jammu. Of the trio, one Supreet Singh alias Raja, son of Davinder Singh fired at him, which missed. In the meantime another person attacked with a sword and injured Inderjit Singh. When people raised alarm the trio managed to escape.
A police team headed by SI Deepak Katoch, In-charge Police Post Parade reached the spot immediately and found Inderjit Singh in a injured condition in front of his shop. The police party swung into action, conducted several raids to nab the accused persons.
During the course of investigation, it came to surface that one of the three absconding accused namely Supreet Singh was seen in the Dogra Hall area.
A team comprising of SDPO City North, Vivek Shekhar, SHO Police Station Pacca Danga Inspector Dheeraj Nagpal and SI Deepak Katoch conducted raid and apprehended him along with weapon of offence (Desi Pistol) here today.
“The accused is also involved in many other criminal cases,” a police official said, adding that the search for remaining two is going on.
