SAMBA: A meeting of District Level Committee for sanctioning the ex-gratia relief in favour of flood affected sufferers under State Disaster Relief Fund was held today under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mubarak Singh.
The cases processed by the revenue staff and Tehsildars were discussed by the committee. In first phase 1,400 cases whose houses have been damaged and 170 cases for loss of livestock were cleared by the committee.
All the Tehsildars have been directed to disburse the relief to the sufferers by organising special camps by ensuring participation of Sarpanchs/Panchs and prominent persons of the respective villages so as to disburse the payment expeditiously and transparently.
They have also been directed to display the lists in conspicuous places in Tehsil/block offices and Panchayats so that if anyone has objection about the sanctioned cases could be entertained and also to include the left out cases.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed revenue officers to submit remaining cases of damaged houses and loss of livestock so that those could also be cleared at the earliest.
It was also intimated that requisite funds have already been provided to Tehsildars. During the meeting, the restoration works of infrastructure/utilities was also reviewed and it was intimated that more than 85 per cent utilities have been restored and remaining works is going on, on war-footing.
It was disclosed that 12 teams, each headed by District/Sectoral Officer have been constituted to verify and inspect/authenticate the restoration works and to accelerate them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Inderjeet, ACR M.Y Malik, SDM Vijaypur Sonu Pargal, SDM Ghagwal Charanjit Singh, besides Tehsildars attended the meeting.
