JAMMU: Former Minister and senior BJP leader Sukhnandan Choudhary on Thursday led a protest in Jammu, accusing the government of ignoring farmers’ concerns and failing on key developmental fronts.
Choudhary said the people of Jammu and Kashmir are “fed up with inaction and hollow promises.” He alleged that fertilizer dealers are forcing farmers to buy unnecessary products such as pesticides and micronutrients along with essential fertilizers like DAP, Urea, and Potash, terming it “a form of blackmail.”

“Why should a farmer, already struggling, be made to buy what he doesn’t need just to get a bag of fertilizer?” he asked, urging the government to act against such exploitation.
He also demanded adequate fertilizer supply, repair of village roads and irrigation canals, and relief for flood-affected families.
Hundreds of BJP workers, farmers, and locals joined the peaceful protest, raising slogans for justice and accountability.
Choudhary warned that if the government failed to act, the agitation would be intensified across the Union Territory.
