Ex-army officer seeks SIT probe in land grabbing

 STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: A soldier and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) awardee, Brig K.K Lakhanpal (Retd), sought justice from the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her own government functionaries who, he said, are working hand in glove with the land mafia and shielding them in their misdeeds.
“My ancestral property situated at Greater Kailash, Khasra No 664 (17 Marlas land) has been encroached upon by the land grabber Ravinder Kumar alias Golla Shah with the connivance of revenue officials and lower rung police officers,” Brig Lakhanpal, resident of House No 574, Amar Niwas, Colonel Colony, Opposite Jammu Airport, told reporters, here on Wednesday.
The demarcation of the said land, he said, has been done on many occasions by a commission ordered by successive Chief Ministers of the State and by concerned Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars on orders from Deputy Commissioners between period starting from year 2005 to year 2017 but the possession of land has still not been given to him because the land mafia headed by Golla Shah, who has been booked under PSA on various occasions, is very active in this area. “Golla Shah hampers the process by threatening the labourers and me,” he said.
“Yesterday I visited Tehsildar office to personally request him to look into the matter and asked him to send the revenue officials to the said land for demarcation and handing over the possession but he didn’t even listen to me,” he said. “Ravinder Kumar alias Golla Shah uses his muscle power through his Muscle Man (Rajinder Singh alias Romy) inspite of the fact that an FIR is registered against him under section RPC 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B, for producing an impersonator in Court in year 2009 and 2012 to get a favourable decree whereas the concerned person died in year 2008,” he mentioned.
“Being in the army l have given my best to the nation and at this juncture when I should be enjoying the fruits of my hard work and sacrifices, l am running from pillar to post to get my hard earned property from land grabbers because some of us have sold ourselves for petty gains. If this is my plight, God help those who do not have means to fight for justice,” he said. He demanded that an SIT be constituted under the supervision of DIG Jammu with orders to report directly to Chief Minister to ensure that the outcome of investigation is not influenced.
