JAMMU: Traffic Police cops work hard throughout the day and book challans of violators and also paste challan slips on window screens of cars parked wrongly in the ‘No Parking’ zone.
But when it comes to taking action against the violators who park their vehicles not only in ‘No Parking’ zone but outside the official residence of State Chief Secretary BR Sharma no action is taken against them.
All this happens in the VVIP zone where not only the office of District Development commissioner is located but office of State Accountability Commission and ministerial bungalows are located barely few steps away.
A PCR van, a traffic cop and other security personnel remain present in the area and stand guard outside the residence of Chief Secretary but everyone makes merry and passes on the buck by remaining mute spectator.
Due to heavy flow of traffic in the area, often motorists have to park their cars on the circular road and on Gujjar Nagar link road. Several patches of Wazarat Road have been declared ‘no parking ‘ zone due to movement of VVIP’s in the area but even then the traffic police authorities ignore the violators and seldom book challans.
They prefer targeting school going children and two wheeler owners without safety helmets and ignore those who roam around freely in cars fitted with tinted glasses at the cost of compromising security of local residents.
Locals of the area often complained that traffic cops randomly lift their vehicles parked on the road to clear way for VVIP’s but have never gathered courage to book challan of those who violate law by parking their vehicles in the no parking zone, even outside the residence of Chief Secretary.
