Even after adopting resolution on deportation of Rohingyas, BJP continues to face heat

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: By merely adopting a vague resolution demanding deportation of Rohingyas camping across different districts of Jammu region and parts of Kashmir Valley, the Pradesh BJP unit has invited more trouble for itself.
On Sunday, the party adopted the resolution during its State Working Committee meeting in Suchetgarh and on Monday as its core constituency learnt about the move they termed it nothing but a mere ‘eye wash’ to hoodwink nationalist people of Jammu region.
“How can we take this party seriously on face value when they have dumped their core issue of abrogation of Article 370 and now they are thinking we will continue to trust them and their politics”, a BJP supporter and long time party activist observed, pleading anonymity.
Common masses too think that after forming an alliance government with PDP, the BJP has meekly surrendered before the Kashmir based leadership and stopped raising the issues concerning people of Jammu region.
Referring to delay caused by the State government in clearing compensation cheques to West Pakistan Refugees, kick-starting developmental projects such as AIIMS, Tawi River Lake, upgradation of GMC, construction of medical colleges, tourism projects in Jammu region, several people blame BJP for not asserting its position while remaining part and parcel of the State government machinery. Political pundits too believe that under pressure from their core constituency and after receiving negative feedback about their performance from RSS think-tank in Jammu, the State Working Committee was left with no choice but to articulate party’s stand on the issues concerning general masses across Jammu region. A former BJP leader and opinion maker Prof Hari Om reacted sharply to the development by tweeting,” BJP in power both at the centre and in J&K. Instead of ordering deportation of Rohingyas from Jammu, its executive body adopted just a vague resolution demanding their deportation. Resolution has further annoyed Hindu Jammu”.
Even various social media platforms were flooded with critical posts and discussions were taking place about the real intentions of BJP leaders with regard to the issue of deportation of Rohingyas.
Those who defended PDP led alliance dispensation in the State claimed that since matter related to deportation of Rohingyas is pending in the Apex court, the State government has very limited role. On its part, the State BJP leadership has shown its resolve towards addressing the concerns and also adopted a resolution seeking their deportation from Jammu with immediate effect.
