Other who participated were Mian Nazir Ahmed Chairman, Banarsi Dass Angral President, Rattan Lai General Secretary, Amjad Malik Sr. Vice-President, S. Paramjit Singh Vice-President.
The members alleged there is no justification of increase in rent as the EP department has no right to demand premium on the basis of justice. Members also raised the issue of sub-allotting alleging the EP department had made it more difficult by implementing 50% & 70% premium on domestic and commercial structures respectively which is not justified. They alleged that previous agreement between EP Department and Tenants Association was made by previous Custodian General to pay Rs. 15,000 for residential and Rs.30,000 for commercial accommodation when a house or shop be transferred to other allottee. The members demanded implementation of Wadhwa Committee Report which was made on the demand of tenants to redress their genuine grievances and granting proprietary right/lease over allotted EP House as agreed by the previous govt.
Revenue Minister gave directions to concerned authorities to take up the repair work of damaged houses immediately within a week time and he also directed the authorities it is our moral duty even a tenant pay Re. l as rent, we are liable to maintain the property. Further regarding the premium of additional construction by a tenant on his own expenses and the premium charges of domestic and commercial, sublet evacuee property will be reviewed within a month time keeping in view of pathetic condition of tenants residing there because of whom this evacuee property is safe.
