EO Kulgam stresses strict monitoring of expenditure

KULGAM: Expenditure Observer (EO) Kulgam, Satish Kumar on Friday called for putting in strict monitoring mechanism in place so that election laws and expenditure related instructions of Election Commission of India are adhered to strictly.
Chairing a meeting of Returning Officers of four Assembly Constituencies viz Noorabad, Kulgam, Homeshali Bugh and Devsar here on Friday morning, Kumar laid emphasis on training of expenditure monitoring teams to ensure that the expenditure incurred by the candidates is submitted on the approved formats of Election Commission f India.
He also called upon Returning Officers to handover expenditure registers as well compendiums on expenditure monitoring to the candidates at the time of filing nomination papers. They were also directed to convene meeting with contesting candidates or their election agents for sensitising them regarding ceiling of expenditure to be incurred by the candidates on election campaigns.
The Assistant Expenditure Observers were directed to maintain shadow registers, in which the expenditure details made available by video surveillance teams, are reflected on daily basis.
The District Election Officer, Nissar Hussain, who was also present in the meeting briefed the Observer about the constitution of teams put in place to account for expenditure to be incurred by political parties and their candidates on electioneering campaign. He said the teams have been directed to keep strict vigil to ensure that political events, meetings, road shows and other modes of campaigning are visually covered on the days of their conduct.

Among others, Returning Officers and Assistant Expenditure Observers of four Assembly Constituencies of Kulgam district participated in the meeting.
