Entrepreneurship development programme concludes

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: A fresh batch of 50 aspiring entrepreneurs passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after successfully completing three-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
The candidates were trained at institute’s Jammu campus and are all set to start their business ventures. They were exposed to a comprehensive three-week training course to start their own profitable business.
The candidates also visited successful entrepreneurial ventures as part of the training programme. A special feature of incubation was also included wherein they were exposed to real life business scenario.
The valediction ceremony was presided over by Director JKEDI, Dr. M.I Parray. During his interaction with the trainees, the director reiterated the commitment of the institute towards helping the youth of the State. He advised the trainees to be sincere and committed to their goals.
JKEDI has become a one spot solution for aspiring entrepreneurs. The process starts from counseling and the Institute remains with the beneficiary throughout his venture. For Amandeep Singh starting a Biogas plant seemed a distant dream before joining JKEDI’s training programme.
“I have a clear direction now. I am an engineering graduate but knew nothing about starting a business. I came to know about certain simple but key business concepts during the programme,” said Singh, an aspiring entrepreneur.
“They were exposed to a real-life business scenario through simulations. They also had interactions with successful entrepreneurs and other stakeholders as a part of the programme,” said Dr. Majid Manzoor Khan, Regional Coordinator, Jammu.
“The mindset is changing, youngsters are shunning conventional jobs and pursuing out of the box ideas with the help of JKEDI,” added Khan.
The candidates have received training under the Seed Capital Fund Scheme, a key component of the State Government’s Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) and Youth Start-Up Loan Scheme being implemented by JKEDI.
