End logjam with casual labourers: NMC

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subhash Shastri urged the Chief Minister, Minister for R&B to intervene and direct the concerned authorities to hold talks with representatives of the striking casual labourers to end the persisting deadlock.
In a press statement issued here today, Shastri said that the demands of the protesting casual labourers are genuine and he would personally take up their genuine demands to the higher ups of the state administration forthwith.
Highlighting demands, Shastri said that the protesting Casual labourers are demanding regularisation of casual labourers, release of pending wages and timely release of salaries of daily wagers. However, Shastri demanded that the separate wage head should be constituted at the earliest as the same is the need of the hour because absence of wage head resulted into the non disbursement of salaries on time. “Since BJP leaders in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jammu assured the casual labourers that if they come to power the issue of casual labourers will be resolved. Now it is high time for BJP who is one of the coalition partners in Government to fulfill the promises with regard to casual labourers”, he said. He appealed to the Coalition Government to resolve the issue of Casual labourers by conceding to their demands.
Shastri also condemned the Lathicharge on protesting casual labourers in Srinagar and said that Lathicharge is not the permanent solution, if Govt is sincere then demands of causal labourers should be conceded with utmost priority.
