Encounter underway between terrorists, security forces in Shopian

Srinagar: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants early morning today in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. At least three terrorists have been cornered so far in nomads huts as J&K Police, army and CRPF jointly launched the operation.

So far, there are no reports of any casualty in the ongoing gunbattle between the two sides.

This is the second time an encounter has broken out in the last 24 hours between the security forces and militants.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Chanakhan area of Sopore in the wee hours Wednesday following information about presence of a foreign militant there, a police official said.

Yesterday the army killed a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant in the encounter in Jammu and Kashmir.
