Educational institutions celebrate Raksha Bandhan

JAMMU: Various educational institutions in Jammu city celebrated Raksha Bandhan in their own way, here on Saturday.

Pushp Vatika, a unit of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar celebrated Raksha Bandhan where in little toddlers along with their teachers tied Rakhis to each other. They also presented a cultural item. Principal, Rameshwar Mengi distributed sweets and gifts among the students and also wished them and their families for the festival of Rakhi.
Some little angels along with their teachers and principal celebrated this festival with army soldiers of the Punjab Regiment at Digiana. The little girls tied Rakhis to the soldiers. Rameshwar Mengi appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers and also thanked the army soldiers for giving such an opportunity to the school to celebrate this festival with them.

Celebrating the spirit of patriotism on Raksha Bandhan, students of Stephens International Public School, Jammu tied the sacred thread to BSF Jawans of 72 Battalion at Suchetgarh border. This endeavour is a symbol of universal brotherhood and to make the children and the BSF Jawans feel special and foster the spirit of unity.
Over 70 girls from Class 6 – 10 from SIPS expressed their gratitude to soldiers for their dedication and expressed their feeling by saying that they feel blessed and honoured.
Satvinder Saini, Director, SIPS appreciated the effort of the students.
To honour the true spirit of brotherhood and spread the message of love, faith and cultural values, an Inter-House Rakhi and kite making competition was organised at DPS Nagbani. In the morning a special assembly was also conducted in which a speech on Raksha Bandhan was given by Adamya Tandon, a student of class 8th followed by a group song.
Principal of the School, R.K Verma appreciated the efforts of the students and congratulated the winners. He said that these type of competitions not only impart skills but require team work, focus, presentation, creativity, leadership, sharing – all of which contribute to holistic child development. Tawi House was declared as the winner.
JK Montessorie British School and its affiliated unit JK Little Millennium celebrated Raksha Bandhan in the school premises. Students of different classes organised a special event to educate children about the significance of the festival Raksha Bandhan.

The programme also witnessed Rakhi making competition aimed at to promote creatively among the students.

Girls tied Rakhi on the wrist of boys who in turn offered gifts for new eternal bond of holy love between brother and sister.
Teachers enlightened the students about significance of the festival and exhibited the bond of love by storytelling. Parents also participated in the event.
Director Academics, Rajni Gupta said that this festival is an eternal bond of holy love between brother and sister. She also thanked the Coordinator Vandana Gupta activity Incharge, staff and students for their active participation in this programme .

Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana celebrated Raksha Bandhan festival with great enthusiasm.

Kindergarten girls tied Rakhi on the wrist of boys who in turn offered gifts for new eternal bond of holy love between brother and sister. The students from classes 1st to 5th participated in the colourful Rakhi making competition and made colourful Rakhis for the jawans of police. Principal Anita Bhatia explained the meaning of Raksha Bandhan. Classes 6th to 10th participated in the kite flying competition which was organised as an inter house competition. Children of the school visited SDPO Bari Brahmana to celebrate Rakhi, with ideas of instilling the sense of pride in our police jawans.

Students of DCM Public School initiated a great venture and visited border areas of Akhnoor to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with the soldiers. The girl students prayed for the long life and safety of the army brothers who remain dedicated to the service of the nation. Principal, Rama Jamwal appreciated the Indian soldiers for their great contribution in safe guarding the nation with their sweat and blood. The soldiers were overwhelmed by the gesture of school students.
The Chairman of the School, S.P Sharma and the Managing Director Dheeraj Jamwal Sharma saluted the army jawans for their sacrifices and great valour.

MLZS students celebrating Raksha Bandhan.

Mount Litera Zee School (MLZS), Jammu celebrated Raksha Bandhan in the presence of Parneesh Mahajan, Chairman NSM Group of Schools and Colleges and MLZS Jammu.
A special assembly was conducted in which the students delivered speech on importance of Raksha Bandhan and a demonstration was given to them regarding this festival.
Writing and colouring competitions were held so as to promote their skills and children made Rakhi’s in this contest.
Manikarnika Bhasin, Principal made the children familiarise with the customs and rituals followed on Raksha Bhandhan.
J and K Police Public School, Miran Sahib celebrated Rakhi festival in the school premises. A special assembly was organised on the occasion in which the students presented speech on the importance of the festival followed by songs on Raksha Bandhan; few students also presented beautiful poems on the occasion. Students also presented one act play depicting importance of day. Later class wise Rakhi making activity was organised in the special activity period in which all students took active part. Principal of the School, Sanjeev Pradhan congratulated students on this day which is a symbol of love between a brother and a sister.
Dogra Higher Secondary School (DHSS), Shastri Nagar on Saturday celebrated Raksha Bandhan-promise of love and everlasting relationship between brother and sister, by tying Rakhis to the boys of their respective classes, in the school premises.
A cultural programme was organised under the supervision of Activity Incharge Sheetal Basotra in which colourful items were performed by the little kids and a few songs were sung by the boys and girls of the school.
Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Managing Director, lauded the students for their enthusiastic performances and inculcated social and cultural values among students. Nirmal Koul, Vice Principal, showered her blessings on the students and encouraged them to be a good member of society.
