JAMMU: Various educational institutions celebrated Diwali, festival of light, great funfair and enthusiasm.
To re-establish the essence of Diwali by being sensitive to the environment i.e spread joys not noise, the students of Army Public School (APS) Kaluchak stressed upon celebrating this Diwali with lamps, sweets and togetherness. The students vowed to go green this Diwali. The school celebrated Eco-friendly Diwali from 24th to 27th October to sensitize the students about the health hazards of burning crackers and the dire need to celebrate Diwali in its original connotation. Videos and power point presentation were shown to the students to make them aware of the various repercussions faced by the living beings due to the burning of crackers.
Various events were organized to commemorate the celebration of eco- friendly Diwali such as making best out of waste competition, paper lantern making competition, diya decoration competition, card making competition, poster making competition and rangoli making competition. A potter was also invited to the school to give students a demonstration about the making of earthen lamp. Abstinence from crackers was also accentuated through a bewitching street play, eloquent speeches and rousing slogans. The celebration was culminated with a mesmerizing group song by the little bloomers in the special morning assembly. Icing on the cake was a demonstration given by Virender Singh on Zero Watt Electrical Lighting.
The Principal, Hem Lata wished for immaculate eternal happiness for all and emphasized upon the collective efforts to dissuade from the practice of bursting crackers. She motivated students to celebrate Green Diwali this year.
KIDZEE, a pre-school of Zee Learn Limited, celebrated Diwali at its – Anand Nagar Bohri, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat and Talab Tillo branches.
Students took active participation in making colourful Rangolis. They were dressed up in Lord Rama, Sita and Hanuman costume depicting their characters.
The Kids were given demo regarding the theme behind the celebration of this festival. They were also made aware about the smoke less Diwali to protect their environment.
The main attraction of this festive was decoration of Diyas and colorful Rangoli.
Delhi Public School (DPS) Nagbani celebrated Diwali with enthusiastic fervour by staging the scenes from Ramayana followed by musical performances which were very mesmerising. The students from all the houses performed excellently under the guidance of the music teachers and the teachers of their houses. A speech on this topic was also given by Urvika Rajput, a student of class V. Principal of the School, R.K Verma said that Diwali’s spiritual significance is that of light over darkness, good over evil and hope over despair. He wished everyone a happy and safe Diwali and took a promise from them that they will refrain from cracking fires and celebrate Diwali in an eco friendly manner. Ajatshatru Singh, Chairman/Trustee Maharaja Hari Singh Social and Education Foundation, Ritu Singh, Adhishree Singh and Ranvijay Singh-Trustee and S.S Sodhi-Director, DPS Nagbani conveyed their Diwali wishes to the students, parents and all the staff members of the school. About 1500 students of Delhi Public School, Jammu joined in the pledge cum signature campaign initiated by REHAI to promote the message of cracker-free Diwali. Endorses the cause were Malvika Kalra, social worker and founder member REHAI, (freedom for animals), Radha Nagpal and Anju Jain her co-associates.
Radha Nagpal talked about the hazardous effects of crackers on environment life and property. She also presented the recording of herself composed song on the theme, which was played in the background as students came forward to sign the pledge and took the oath of abstaining from burning crackers. Also present were Meenu Gupta Headmistress, Ravi Kotroo, Dy Headmaster and all coordinators.
SHEMROCK Imperial, a unit of India’s First Playschool Chain, organized celebrated Festival of Lights. Children and teachers participated in all the activities. The children showcased their talents and creativity by making decorative items like candles, Diyas, rangolis, ‘Happy Diwali’ banners and other things.
