Educational institutions celebrate Christmas with fanfare

JAMMU: Christmas was celebrated with great fanfare and zeal on Monday by various educational institutions.
WP St. Peter’s High School, BC Road children presented a skit based on the life of Jesus, the Redeemer depicting the purpose of Jesus’ coming to this world as human is to establish a Kingdom, strongly founded on love, peace and kindness.
The newly elected CCR Sisters’ Provincial Rev. Sr. Clare D’ Souza was the Chief Guest who gave away prizes to the students who were having 100 per cent attendance in the previous academic year.
Sonali Thappa who was one of the position holders after the rectification in the 8th Board exam was also awarded.
Sr. Clare D’Souza motivated everyone to come forward to help one another and to respect and love the parents who sacrifice a lot for the sake of the children.
Sonika Datta, one of the teachers, also gave a message on behalf of the staff. There was a Christmas Fete arranged for the students after the programme in which many games and food stalls were put up.
Fr. J. Stalin Raj, Principal wished and children and the parents a very Happy and Blissful Christmas and Grace filled New Year 2015.
WP Kartar Public School (KPS) Barnoti celebrated Christmas and New Year in school premises on Monday.
Nirmaljit Singh was the Chief Guest while Secretary Harpreet Kour, Principal Manjula Dogra were also present.
Nirmaljit Singh complimented students, staff and gathering on Christmas and New Year. He said that Jesus sacrificed his life for love, brotherhood and peace of the mankind and we should pledge for the same in our lives.
Principal KPS, Manjula Dogra and Harpreet Kour also congratulated on students and staff on Christmas and New Year.
A colourfull cultural programme was performed by the Junior Wing of KPS. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ranjana Sharma and the vote of thanks was presented by Ruchika Ranawat.
WP Alexander Memorial School celebrated X’mas in the school premises with solemnity and gaiety. The whole campus was decorated with buntings, X’mas Tree, Symbolic Star and Santa-Clauses etc befitting the great religious festival, symbolic of the Birth of Lord Jesus Christ more than 2000 years ago.
Priest-in-charge of St. Paul’s Church Jammu, Rev. Udai Singh, S.M Gill, Johnny William, Victor, Dolly Victor and several other dignitaries were among the distinguished guests.
The Principal, Esther William delivered the welcome address. The function started with a prayer and message of love and peace by Rev. Udai Singh.
The tiny tots staged a small skit depicting scenes from the Nativity play.
