UDHAMPUR: Ladakh is a land of picturesque landscape and mesmerising natural beauty which overwhelms even the most prepared. For hundreds of years travelers from all over have been captivated by its serene and pristine milieu. Surrounded by the Karakoram, Zanskar and Soltoro Range the ‘Land of Passes’ has enchanted anyone who strode on it.
In order to integrate this remote land with the national mainstream, a number of steps are being taken by the Indian Army. Under ‘Op Sadbhavana’ an Educational Cum Motivational Tour was organised as an excursion for students of Nubra and Shyok Valley by Siachen Brigade under the overall supervision of Vijay Battalion. The tour consisting of 15 Students of the age group 13 years and above undertook 22 days trip from Partappur to Chandigarh, Delhi, Agra and Amritsar. The educational cum motivational tour was flagged in by the Station Commander of Leh.
The students on the tour had the honour to meet President of India, Pranab Mukherjee and Governor of Punjab, Shivraj V Patil. The students visited Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Qutab Minar, Raj Ghat, India Gate, Jama Masjid ,Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Wagah Border.
Since most of the students on the tour had stepped out of Ladakh for the very first time this exposure will certainly have a positive and a long lasting impression on their tender minds. The exposure will not only assist these students by enhancing the spirit of nationalism in their psyche but the efforts will in turn go a long way to mould the foundation of a prosperous and developed Ladakh.
