JAMMU: 148th Birth Anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Government Girls Higher Secondary School Satwari. Principal, Neelam Gandotra talked to the children and stressed on Swachhta Hi Sewa Hai a great and an invincible vision of Mahatama Gandhi and pledge to create a clean, healthy and strong India.
Nishu Manhas sang the song of Gandhi (Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram…….) and enthralled the audience. Sushma Kumari sang a song about the message of peace and non-violence of Gandhi and slogan Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan of Shastri.
The function concluded with the advice of the Principal Komal Kotwal to students to follow the principle of truth and goodness. She thanked the teachers and students for making the programme a success.
The day long celebrations started with cleanliness drive in school premises. The Swachh Bharat drive rolling trophy was also which was presented to the best clean and well decorated class. Cultural programmes were also organised.
Director of KNIT, Prof J.L Kotwal threw light on the life of great leaders and called upon everyone to follow their teachings. He said such drives should not be periodic but part and parcel of day-to-day curriculum. Principal Bimla Blowria also greeted the students on the occasion. She hoped that such efforts would definitely make a Swachh Bharat and Swasth Bharat of Gandhi and Modi and India would becoming clean by 2018.
Government Higher Secondary School Muthi celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with fervour and gaiety. Principal of the School, Sikander Lal along with all the staff members paid homage to the Father of the Nation. The gathering also paid homage of Lal Bahadur Shastri. The students made speeches and presented skits.
The proceedings were conducted by the Supriya Sharma, Teacher. She laid stress on Swachhta Hi Sewa Hai and asked the students to keep their surroundings neat and clean, only then dream of Gandhi can be brought into practice. Vote of thanks was presented by Master Sohan Singh.
