NAGROTA: Exhorting women to play their decisive role in ensuring a stable and strong government by might of their vote in the ensuing assembly elections, Provincial President Women Wing Vijaylaxmi Dutta today said that women of Jammu and Kashmir constitute a strong support base for National Conference.
Addressing women workers of her party at Lower Jagati, Upper Simblade and Tanda in Nagrota Assembly Constituency, Dutta exuded confidence that National Conference will emerge stronger than ever before and form a stable government under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
She said National Conference has played a pioneering role in the empowerment of women and ensuring their participation in the decision making in grass roots level democratic institutions. “The successive generations know how relentlessly National Conference has worked towards achieving female literacy and making them instrument of change in the societal growth”, she said and referred to several initiatives taken by Omar led government during the past six years for their emancipation and empowerment.
Dutta said that sustained efforts of the Chief Minister have enabled the state to attain peace and register enviable progress in different sectors of development. As a result of his visionary policies transparency has been brought in the governance by enacting Right to Information Act and Public Utility Guarantee Services Act, which, she said adding that these have made the administration more responsive to the needs of the people.
The Provincial President Women Wing has said that the policies and programmes of National Conference have been designed to satiate the urges of every segment of population. She enumerated the achievements registered in various sectors of development.
Dutta lauded the role of Devender Singh Rana in giving a new dimension to the development of Nagrota and said his vision of making the area as a model constituency has caught the imagination of the people. She urged the people to elect Rana with a massive majority of votes for the holistic development and progress of Nagrota.
Prominent among those present in the workers meetings included Fatima Noor, Mukhtiar Begum, Masooda Begum, Mumtaz Ali, Mohammed Lateef and Umar-ud-Din.
